Five ministers who are part of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) were called to participate in meetings at the Chamber of Deputies this Wednesday (24). The Minister of the Institutional Security Office (GSI), Marcos Antônio Amaro dos Santos, was summoned – when there is no possibility of refusal – to provide clarifications to the deputies of the Commission for Public Security and Combating Organized Crime.
The parliamentarians want explanations about the video that shows the performance of the former portfolio holder, Gonçalves Dias, during acts of vandalism to the headquarters of the Three Powers, in Brasília, on January 8th.
Another four ministers were invited by the deputies to attend the committees and have already confirmed their presence, according to information from the Legislature. They are: Marina Silva, Paulo Pimenta, Mauro Vieira and Silvio Almeida.
Marina Silva will be at the Commission for the Environment and Sustainable Development on Wednesday. The deputies want explanations about the Lula government’s plans for this area.
Another member of the first echelon of the PT administration who goes to the Chamber this Wednesday is Paulo Pimenta, chief minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic. He was invited by members of the Communication and Financial Inspection and Control Commissions to explain the government’s plan for the sector, in addition to the actions taken to guarantee freedom of expression and freedom of the press.
Chancellor Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs, was invited to the Committee on Foreign Relations and National Defense to speak about the future of Brazilian foreign policy, in addition to explaining the portfolio’s priorities in the current government.
At the Commission for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly, the guest is the Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship, Sílvio Almeida. The objective is to know what are the Executive’s plans for the elderly population. The National Secretary for the Promotion and Defense of the Rights of the Elderly, Alexandre da Silva, was also invited by the deputies.
