Firefighters social project resumes activities for more than 350 children and young people – News of Brazil

Children, teenagers, parents and guardians, in addition to professionals from the Amapá Fire Department (CBM-AP) participated this Saturday (26) in the resumption of the corporation’s social projects after three years at a standstill. This year, the novelty is the “Citizen Judo”, an initiative that comes to add to the “Citizen Firefighter” and “Swimmers of Tomorrow”.
There are more than 350 children and adolescents from Macapá, Santana and Oiapoque participating in the activities, which aim at intellectual, ethical, moral and social development, with the exercise of citizenship, and encouraging personal and professional growth in students.
“This initiative is part of the planning of the Government of Amapá, which has a special eye on social projects and all the benefits they can bring to young people and their families. This is a motto of Governor Clécio Luís who sees the importance of adding the institution to the community”, explained Alexandre Veríssimo, commander of the Fire Department.
It is professional growth that Yasmin Reis, 9 years old, is focused on. She says that she always wanted to be an athlete and found that opportunity in the Judô Cidadão project.
To be part of the social project, she managed to mobilize the whole family. She and her mother, Luciana Reis, live in the Infraero I neighborhood, in the North Zone of Macapá, and they cycle to the Macapaba Housing Complex, so that the little one can participate in training.
“Judo is a reliable sport and I’m loving it. I want to be an athlete and I am being greatly encouraged by the teacher and my family”, said, excited, Yasmin.
Tomorrow’s Swimmers
The 8-year-old Rayssa Dantas is dedicated to the Nadadores do Amanhã project. The project that serves children and adolescents promotes health and citizenship with the aim of building healthy lifestyle habits through swimming, aiming, in addition to social inclusion, to discover new talents in the sport.
Rayssa explains that in the project she also learns about the basics of water rescue. “I’m learning to swim, because I see that there are many occurrences of people who don’t know how to swim and get into rivers and pools and end up drowning. The project can help me not to go through such a situation”, said the child.

Another dedicated student is Rafael Marques, 15 years old, who is at the Citizen Firefighter, the oldest in the corporation. Initiated in 2006, the project works to value young people through discipline, respect, union, citizenship and training inspired by the doctrine of firefighters, with notions of firefighting, rescue and first aid.
The project also offers knowledge about traffic, environmental, culture and leisure education. Adolescents are aware of the responsibility of being a multiplier of the knowledge they acquire with the military.
“In addition to teaching about rescue, we also learn to respect, and this is paramount to having the responsibility of teaching what we are learning during our time in the project”, emphasized the young man.

The sub-coordinator of the Fire Department’s social projects, sub-lieutenant Alan Gameleira, says that the young people missed learning and interacting with the military. According to him, this expectation can be seen during the ceremony with the excitement of all the people who went to honor and celebrate the return of the projects.
“We are seeing all the mobilization and excitement of the students and their parents here today. It is a time of celebration. This shows us military personnel and society that the Fire Department is committed to delivering much more than just professional obligations, we are committed to forming citizens”, guaranteed the sub-coordinator.
