This Wednesday (25), the Federal Police targets 12 people being investigated for the coup acts of January 8th in the 19th phase of the Lesa Pátria operation. One of the targets of search and seizure is Leonardo Rodrigues de Jesus, who has the nickname Leo Índio, cousin of the children of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

He is the nephew of Rogéria Nantes Braga, Bolsonaro’s first wife and mother of the former president’s eldest children: senator Flávio, councilor Carlos and federal deputy Eduardo. He has already been cited in investigations into 8/1, 7 September, “rachadinha” and the use of ghost employees.

Léo Índio is one of those investigated in the investigation opened by the Attorney General’s Office to investigate the organization and financing of the demonstrations on September 7th and the attacks on the Federal Supreme Court.

On August 31, days before the acts, Deputy Attorney General Lindôra Araújo asked Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF, to authorize Índio’s testimony.

Moraes complied with the request and also ordered Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube to block his accounts and the PIX keys he disclosed to raise funds to be used to finance the demonstrations.

The cousin of Bolsonaro’s children became the target of the investigation after posting on his social media a campaign to raise money to finance the September 7 demonstrations.

In the days leading up to the events, Índio published several Pix keys on his Instagram account to collect funds and also a QR Code for donations through cryptocurrencies. All were blocked by order of Moraes.

On January 8, he participated in the coup attacks that took place in Brasília. In a post on social media, Leonardo Índio showed a photo with several coup protesters behind him and said that their eyes were red due to the tear gas.

“Those who have a history of destroying public property are the left. [Eles] They will focus on vandalism, certainly. But we know the truth. Red eyes mean tear gas, fired by security forces, who did not focus on the outbreaks [sic] of destruction, they threw at all the protesters. Look for the real vandals and also the cowards masked and dressed up as patriots,” he wrote.

He also posted videos of coup plotters being hit with bombs to disperse the crowd and said that “patriots do not commit vandalism.”

In the 2022 election, eke did not win a seat in the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District.

The candidate, who appeared at the ballot box with the surname Bolsonaro and was dismissed in September from the PL leadership’s advisory role in the Senate for not working since March, received a total of 1,801 votes, placing 187th among all candidates in this dispute.
