The Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, said this Monday (13) that he concluded the bills for partial correction of the Income Tax table and what creates the Desenrola program, aimed at renegotiating small debts. According to him, the proposals are already on the table of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who should present them between this week and next.

The details of the new projects were not disclosed, but they will affect mainly workers who earn from one to two minimum wages. The correction of the Income Tax table currently has an exemption for those earning up to R$ 1,903.38, and can go to “one and a half minimum wage or two”, according to the Minister of Planning, Simone Tebet, recently.

The correction was one of Lula’s main proposals during the election campaign, in which he promised to increase the exemption to up to R$5,000, which the minister said that, if it occurs, it will be implemented gradually.

Debt renegotiation will take place through the Desenrola program, which will focus on people earning up to two minimum wages. The expectation is to serve about 40 million people.

Haddad will have a meeting with President Lula this Tuesday (14), at 10 am, to discuss ministry projects.
