Festival organizers have already received 147 works in the first month of registrations, 29 of which are new

Manaus (AM) — Registration for 1st Close, a film festival dedicated to fiction and documentary works, with themes related to the LGBTQIAPN+ universe, remains open until April 30th. Organized by Cacique Produções, the festival takes place in the second semester in Manaus.

Close is a project covered by the Paulo Gustavo Law through the Manaus Audiovisual Cultural Identity Notice, with support from Concultura, Manauscult, Manaus City Hall, Ministry of Culture and the Federal Government.

In the first month of registrations, Close already presents very positive numbers, with 147 cinematographic works received by the organization, 29 of which are new. Of the total entries, 72.8% are fiction films and 27.2% documentaries. Another important fact is that a large part of the productions, 49.7%, were completed in 2023. Next comes 24.5% of works from 2022, 15% from 2024 and 7.5% from 2021.

According to the festival’s creator and executive director, Wallace Abreu, the number of films registered so far has already exceeded the organization’s initial expectations.

“We have received different works, mainly from the Southeast and Northeast. However, in this final stretch of registrations, we will focus and strengthen publicity actions in the North, which is currently the region with the least representation in the event. We also want to intensify actions aimed at international productions, to reach a greater number of works, although we already have excellent films from Mexico and Portugal registered”,

highlights.

To date, Close has works registered from 22 states and the Federal District. Highlights include São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Pernambuco, with 32, 20 and 12 registrations respectively.

The festival’s artistic director, Arnaldo Barreto, highlights that the aesthetic, artistic and technical diversity of the works entered so far is very broad, both in the fictional and documentary fields. “This will certainly allow us to carry out a very rich curatorial selection process, building a program that covers several fronts of the thematic axis worked on by the festival”, he said.

Process

Registration for Close can be made until April 30th using the link that is also available in the Instagram bio @caciqueproducoes. Candidates can access the full festival regulations using the same link.

The list of selected films will be announced on June 3rd, and there will be no appeal against the decision of the organizing committee. After the chosen films are released, those responsible for the entries will be notified and will have up to 10 working days to send the download link, containing the final screening version of the work.
