Public call from the Department of Education and School Sports aims to encourage local production and value the food culture of ethnic groups

Manaus (AM) – The State Indian Foundation (FEI) is calling on indigenous farmers to participate in a public call launched by the State Department of Education and School Sports. The objective is to encourage local production and value the food culture of indigenous ethnicities in the state’s public schools. “The initiative is an opportunity for indigenous family farmers to sell their products and contribute to improving the nutrition of students in the public school system. Furthermore, it is also a way of valuing the food culture of ethnic groups and promoting diversity in school meals”,

concludes the CEO, Sinésio Trovão.

The notice is aimed at farmers and indigenous rural family entrepreneurs and traditional communities, whether organized formally, informally or individually. The idea is to guarantee the supply of healthy food in indigenous schools and traditional communities in the public education network.

Registration can be made until December 15, 2023, at the Support Center for Regional Economy Programs (Naper), at the Secretariat’s headquarters, in Manaus. It is also possible to register with the Regional Education Coordination Offices of the municipalities involved.

The opening of the envelopes is scheduled for January 22, 2024, at 9 am, in the Auditorium of the Padre José de Anchieta Professional Training Center (Cepan). The event will be an opportunity to learn in detail about the proposals and projects that aim to feed future generations of indigenous people and traditional communities, always respecting the guidelines of the notice.
