FCecon offers 65 places for the scientific initiation program in the Amazon

Students must be regularly enrolled in an undergraduate course related to the project

Manaus (AM) – The Amazonas State Oncology Control Center Foundation (FCecon) opened, on Monday (13), registration for the Scientific Initiation Support Program (Paic) edition 2023/2024. 65 vacancies are offered, and the announcement is available on the Foundation’s website (www.fcecon.am.gov.br).

Paic is a program linked to the Research Support Foundation of the State of Amazonas (Fapeam), which encourages and fosters initiatives in science. At FCecon, all projects must be related to Oncology. The program lasts 12 months and is coordinated by the Foundation’s Board of Education and Research (DEP), linked to the State Department of Health (SES-AM).

The Director of Education and Research, Kátia Luz Torres, highlights another edition of the program at the Foundation.

“We are running PAIC for the 13th year at the Cecon Foundation. 65 bags are available. It will certainly be another successful edition, with the participation of researchers and advisors from FCecon and students from different courses”,

he said.

Requirements and enrollment

Applicants must be regularly enrolled in an undergraduate course at a public or private higher education institution recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). It is necessary to be studying an undergraduate degree in an area related to the project carried out, advises the coordinator of Paic/FCecon, Valquíria Alves.

Applications will remain open until the 28th of February. To carry out the procedure, you must access the FCecon website, download the registration form and send it, together with all the required documents, to the e-mail [email protected]

The announcement can be consulted on the Foundation’s website, in the “Education and Research” tab, “Research Activities”, “Paic Editions”, where it is necessary to click on “Paic 2023/2024”. In the section, the candidate has access to the registration form and the other documents that must be completed.

Phases

After registration, the documentation will be analyzed and the project will be sent to the institutional scientific committee between March 6th and 8th. The announcement of the results and classification is scheduled for March 23.

Researches

Support programs for scientific initiation play a vital role in encouraging and sustaining research groups, evaluates Kátia Luz Torres. The programs also increasingly have greater scope and social and scientific importance.

“We are sure that we are fulfilling this role in a very rewarding way and with a return for society, extremely palpable and possible to be measured and felt in the day-to-day of our assistance to cancer patients”,
