Ex-Minister Lewandowski may be summoned to the MST CPI

Former Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Ricardo Lewandowski may be summoned by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Landless Rural Workers Movement (MST) to testify as a witness. The call request, presented by federal deputy Alfredo Gaspar (União-AL), should be voted on at the next meeting of the CPI, which is scheduled for May 23.

In his justification, the author of the request pointed out the need to seek clarification on statements by the former minister. In February, when participating in an event promoted by the MST, at Escola Nacional Florestan Fernandes, Ricardo Lewandowski, at the time still minister of the STF, said that “visiting the MST School, I realized what organized people are capable of. The School is an example of this”.

For deputy Alfredo Gaspar, this statement would have contradicted the Federal Constitution. “It was, to say the least, contradictory to say that we care for the constitutional guarantee of the right to property and that we are united in an organization event, whose coordinators have as their objective the invasion of private property”, pointed out the parliamentarian in his application for summoning the former minister .

MST CPI has more than 20 summons or invitation requirements

Installed last Wednesday (17), the MST’s CPI already has more than 20 requests for summoning or inviting witnesses or investigated persons.

Among the possible summoned are the leaders of the MST and the National Front of Campo e Cidade (FNL), João Pedro Stédile and José Rainha Júnior, respectively. The two former Ministers of Agrarian Development, Raul Jungmann and Miguel Soldatelli Rossetto, and the current Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Agriculture (MDA), Paulo Teixeira, who must clarify his actions and complaints against the Workers’ Movement Landless.
