Tax reform

The initiative is from consultant and economist Juarez Baldoino, from Comptroller Baldoino

Manaus (AM) — The main economic class entities in Amazonas were invited to discuss, this Thursday (14), a proposal that plans to avoid legal uncertainty in the Manaus Free Trade Zone (ZFM), in relation to tax changes that may still occur even after the Tax Reform. The initiative is from consultant and economist Juarez Baldoino, from Comptroller Baldoino.

The action aims to bring together the Amazonas Commercial Association (ACA), Manaus Chamber of Store Managers (CDL Manaus), Amazonas State Industry Center (Cieam), Amazonas Regional Economic Council (Corecon-AM), Regional Accounting Council of Amazonas (CRC-AM), Regional Council of Administration of Amazonas (CRA-AM), Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Amazonas (Crea-AM), Federation of Agriculture and Livestock of the State of Amazonas (FAEA) and Federation of Industries of the State of Amazonas (Fieam).

The event also seeks to bring together entities that represent industries such as the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Mopeds, Bicycles and Similar (Abraciclo) and the National Association of Manufacturers of Electronic Products (Eletros).

Baldoino considers that Constitutional Amendment 132/2023 has a provision that sought to maintain the tax advantages of manufacturing products in the Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM), in relation to production in other locations in the country, but the issue of changes to the Tax on industrialized products (IPI) and Import Tax were not addressed.

For him, among the main beneficiaries of the operation of the PIM are employees in commerce, services in general, industry and agribusiness activities, as well as entrepreneurs in micro and small companies.

“They all gravitate directly or indirectly around industrial activity, which is the main economic base of the State, including an important part of the interior of Amazonas, in addition to the tax resources collected and channeled towards education and health, for example.”

During the meeting, the economist will present a study to be submitted for consideration by the State’s economic entities.
