Inep (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research), which organizes Enem, reported that it monitors the country’s climate situation, including the impacts caused by heavy rains in São Paulo.

The application schedule remains as planned, but the organization emphasizes that there is a provision for reapplication for registrants affected by logistical problems caused by natural disasters.

The tests begin this Sunday (5) and continue the next (12). The gates to the test sites close at 1 pm, Brasília time, and the test starts at 1:30 pm.

Storms recorded in São Paulo this Friday (3) caused six deaths, according to Civil Defense. Some regions of the state completed more than 22 hours without electricity. The capital of São Paulo and cities in the interior dawned with dozens of trees fallen in the streets.

According to São Paulo City Hall, 84 schools in the capital that will be Enem test sites were affected by the rain. Management stated that Enel promised to solve the problem of lack of energy for all of them in time for the exam.

The re-application of the Enem in cases where it is impossible to take the test due to natural disasters is provided for in the exam notice. In practically all editions of the test there are problems of this type.

“The state, municipal and test site coordinations hired by Cebraspe, the institution responsible for applying the 2023 National High School Exam, are mobilized to take the necessary measures to guarantee the application this Sunday”, says a note from Inep, this Saturday (4).

The institute, linked to the MEC (Ministry of Education), had already announced that it also monitors the situation in the state of Paraná. Heavy rains also punished cities in the state.

Inep will make available, between the 13th and 17th of November, on the Participant’s Page, a specific tab for submission of requests from registrants who are unable to take the test due to logistical obstacles related to environmental incidents. Requests will be analyzed by the government.

“It is worth remembering that the methodology used in the exam allows the comparability of tests and equal conditions between participants”, warns Inep.

The reapplication will take place on December 12th and 13th. The same reapplication strategy was announced for candidates allocated to locations more than 30 km away due to an error by the organization.

The high complexity, according to the government, prevents the postponement of the test. This year, the exam will be administered in 9,399 test locations, in 1,750 municipalities across the country.

3.9 million subscribers are expected. Enem is the main gateway to public higher education.

This edition is the first organized by this Lula (PT) government. The president published a video on social media in which he wished the participants luck and said not to forget an official document with a photo and a black ink pen, with transparent material.

“Tomorrow is a very important day in your lives. You need to prepare yourself today and not let anything shake your psychological system”, says the president, in a video recorded in the Palácio do Alvorado area, the official residence of the presidency. Lula gives the message with a jackfruit in his hand. “After Enem, you will realize how your life will start to change.”

The exam has four objective tests — each with 45 questions — and an essay.

On the first day, the Language tests (which includes Portuguese or Spanish depending on the candidate’s registration), humanities and writing will be administered. This Sunday’s race runs until 7pm.

Next Sunday it’s time for the natural sciences and mathematics tests. The exam ends at 6:30 pm on this day.
