Enem 2023: disadvantaged candidates will be able to take the test in December – 10/30/2023 – Education

The Lula (PT) government confirmed that around 50 thousand people enrolled in Enem 2023 were allocated to locations far from their homes and will have the opportunity to take the tests on another date. After the test locations were announced, complaints from students accumulated.

Inep (National Institute of Educational Studies and Research), which organizes the exam, reported this Monday (30) that disadvantaged registrants will be able to take the exam on the 12th and 13th of December — the normal tests will be administered on the 5th and November 12th.

Those disadvantaged registrants who are interested in taking the Enem in December must submit their requests for analysis. This announcement must be made on the participant’s page, where there will be a specific tab for this. The system will receive the information between November 13th and 17th.

The Enem notice guarantees that participants take the test a maximum of 30 km away from their homes. Students reported, shortly after the test locations were announced, distances of more than 40 km.

There were reports of applicants considering giving up taking the exam, which is the main gateway to public higher education.

Inep, a body linked to the MEC (Ministry of Education), had been reporting since last week that it was working on the issue, although it had disclosed how many were affected. The 50,000 people affected represent 1% of those registered, Inep highlighted in a note — 3.9 million are expected to take the tests this year.

The body also stated in the note that “those registered for Enem 2023 will not be harmed by the designation of test locations far from their residence.” The institute reported that there were no cases of registrants allocated to a municipality other than that indicated by the participant.

The body insisted that it has demanded normalization of the situation at Cebraspe (Brazilian Center for Research in Assessment and Selection and Promotion of Events), the institution that won the bid to administer the exam.

Problems with Enem test sites took on political overtones last week. A deputy presented a request to summon the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, to explain the situation in the Chamber (the request is expected to be considered this Tuesday).

The Education Bench at the National Congress also informed that it would request information from the MEC about the organization and logistics of the tests.

Enem is held on two Sundays. Gates open at 12pm and close at 1pm on both days. The tests start at 1:30 pm and end on the first day at 7:00 pm and on the second at 6:30 pm.

The reference time is Brasilia. The exam will have four objective tests — each with 45 questions — and an essay. To take your notebook home, you must leave during the last 30 minutes of the test.

On the first day, the Language tests will be administered — which includes Portuguese or Spanish depending on the candidate’s registration, Codes and their Technologies, Human Sciences and their Technologies and writing.

In the second, candidates take Natural Sciences and its Technologies and Mathematics and its Technologies
