Endrick scores, and Brazil beats Colombia in the pre-Olympics – 01/26/2024 – Sport

Brazil beat Colombia 2-0 on Friday night (26), in the pre-Olympic tournament, held in Venezuela. The competition defines which teams from South America will be at the Paris Olympic Games, which start in July. The goals went to Endrick and John Kennedy.

Colombia, which was coming off a 3-0 defeat to Ecuador, started the match trying to press, but it was Brazil who opened the scoring.

In the 25th minute of the first half, John Kennedy shot from outside the area, the goalkeeper saved it and, on the rebound, Endrick completed it into the net.

Colombia had chances to equalize in the second half, but stopped due to the poor aim of their players, who created but finished poorly, and goalkeeper Mycael, who made a beautiful save from Carlos Cortés’ header after a corner kick.

Already in the 38th minute, Gabriel Pec won on the left in a counterattack and rolled for John Kennedy, alone, to give final numbers to the match,

With the result, the team, led by coach Ramon Menezes, reached 6 points and is second in Group A of the competition. Leader Ecuador has 7, but one game more. Brazil has, for now, 100% success. In its debut, the team beat Bolivia, 1-0, on Tuesday (23). The goal was from Endrick.

The top two in each group qualify for the final quadrangular that will decide which two representatives from South America will be at the Paris Olympics.

They are in the Brazil group, in addition to Colombia and Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela. In Group B are Peru, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Chile.

The next game in Brazil is on Monday (29), against the Ecuadorians, at 5pm.
