Embratur promoted 23 employees in December 2022, at the end of Jair Bolsonaro’s (PL) term. In addition to the increase in wages, the movement also increases the impact in the event of dismissal, since hiring there is carried out under the CLT regime.
There were also two promotions in January 2023, before federal deputy Marcelo Freixo (RJ) took over as president of the agency. The new management now wants to identify precisely who these employees are and the impact of promotions.
On November 18, former President Bolsonaro appointed former Minister of Tourism Gilson Machado to a four-year term as president of the agency. The law that deals with the body, however, states that the Chief Executive can dismiss him. Machado had left the ministry to run for the Senate for Pernambuco, but ended up defeated.
Machado stated that the end of the year coincides with the beginning of the high tourist season. He also mentions the international fairs in which the agency participated.
“If adjustments were not made to Embratur’s staff, the agency could suffer losses in the execution of its actions, also implying losses for Brazil and for the treasury”, stated the former minister.
