Electronic shipping becomes a guarantee for Banco do Caminhoneiro – 07/13/2023 – Panel SA

Roadcard is getting ready to consolidate its financial operation, currently restricted to means of payment, at Banco do Caminhoneiro.

Waiting for authorization from the Central Bank, the company is already looking at offering credit to drivers with DT-es (Electronic Transport Documents) as collateral.

By virtue of a law, which tries to formalize the category, payments for cargo transportation must be made through the DT-e, a digital certificate that describes the cargo, buyer, seller and the freight revenue generated for the truck driver after trip.

This document will be used so that a bank can anticipate credit, as if it were working capital, a way to capitalize the driver to take care of the maintenance of his vehicle, for example.

Last year, freight generated R$13 billion in revenue, R$2 billion more than in 2021.

Roadcard data indicate that only 30% of the 1.5 million drivers are banked. The company currently owns 43% and a small portion uses the DT-e, a still recent instrument.

Today, truck drivers can transfer to a current account via TED and Pix, and use prepaid cards issued by Bradesco and Banco do Brasil.

As there is still a lot of informality in the sector, Roadcard carries out relationship actions with truck drivers.

On the 25th, the day of São Cristóvão, the patron saint of drivers, there will be a film screening at Posto Dom Pedro, on the Fernão Dias highway, in Atibaia (SP). The exhibition is part of the Culture Project on Estrada Pamcard
