The Chinese TEVX Higer will have two factories in the country. Confirmation of the second unit was made this Friday (14th), after a meeting between the automaker’s executives and vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), who is also Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services.

The first assembly line was announced a year ago and is being built in Ceará. The chosen location is the Pecém Industrial and Port Complex, located between the municipalities of Caucaia and São Gonçalo do Amarante (60 kilometers from Fortaleza).

Production will start in 2025. In addition to electric buses and trucks, diesel versions will be made for export.

The second factory will be built in the Midwest region, according to TEVX Higer. The company, however, has not yet disclosed in which state. This unit will exclusively produce electric buses.

One of the objectives is to participate in tenders in Brazil, primarily in cities that seek to electrify public transport.

The Chinese automaker has a supply contract for 200 units for the city of São Paulo, in addition to having won the first tender focused on electric buses made by a city hall in the country, in the municipality of Cascavel (PR).

The main national model will be the Higer Azure A12BR. With 12 meters in length, it has autonomy to run about 270 kilometers with a full charge.

The batteries add up to 385 kWh of capacity – in comparison, the set that equips the electric version of the Renault Kwid has 26.8 kWh.

The Chinese bus is equipped with air conditioning, 35 USB charging points, TV monitors and very large windows. The low floor facilitates entry and exit, and there is approved capacity for 70 passengers. By weight, the bus can carry 19 tons.

Mercedes confirms sale of buses and trucks through incentive program

While discounts for the sale of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles boosted retail sales in June, the heavy vehicle fleet renewal program has yet to show the expected impact. Compared to May, registrations for trucks fell by 4.1%, according to Anfavea (association of automakers).

One of the explanations is the delay in licensing: trucks, in general, receive implements to transport cargo, which takes time to install. The main factor, however, was the absence of fleet owners in the first round of incentives, which was aimed at self-employed drivers.

In the case of trucks, discounts range from R$33,600 to R$99,400 depending on the size and capacity of the vehicle. The benefit is conditioned to the disposal of another truck with more than 20 years of use.

Better results are expected for the third quarter, when purchases made by companies – modality released on June 21 – will be accounted for. One of the first moves in this segment was made by Mercedes-Benz.

The automaker announced this Friday (14) the sale of 110 buses and six trucks that meet the requirements of Provisional Measure 1175.

Among the buses, 90 urban models were delivered to Suzantur, while 20 road models were part of the Viação Itapemirim fleet. The companies are part of the same group.

The extra-heavy trucks were negotiated with Carga Pesada Engenharia e Transportes from Espírito Santo.
