Manaus (AM) – The Education of Youth and Adults (EJA) of Manaus City Hall became a highlight in the documentary “Back to classes”, a 13-episode documentary series available on the Globoplay streaming service, which shows how education is capable of changing lives. The production brings together stories from EJA students from other parts of Brazil, such as São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina and Bahia.

The Doutor Aristófanes Bezerra de Castro municipal school, located in the Cidade de Deus neighborhood, North Zone, and the Aru Waimi municipal indigenous school, in the Terra Preta community, on the Negro river, coordinated by the Municipal Education Secretariat (Semed), are representing the region North in production.

The manager of Semed’s Youth and Adult Education Management, Alina Bindá, explained that the objective is to expand relevant work for EJA to Brazil and the world.

“At the beginning of 2022, Tv Futura approached us to recommend schools with relevant work focused on Youth and Adult Education. We made the nomination and they had the intention of a school with a peculiar reality, like in the riverside area, so we indicated the Aru Waimi indigenous school. The objective is to expand to Brazil and the world works relevant to EJA”, he said.

In addition, the manager explained that the action demonstrates how David Almeida’s management values ​​the various teaching segments developed in the municipal education of Manaus. The modality is developed in 65 teaching units and serves around 12 thousand students.

“With this series, we were able to show the whole country that in the municipal education network we do effective work focused on Youth and Adult Education, valuing people’s profile and guaranteeing access to this type of education. The documentary is extremely important to highlight the work that is developed by Semed”, he declared.

The manager of the municipal school Doutor Aristófanes Bezerra de Castro, Francineide Bento, commented on the feeling of sharing the routine and the pedagogical work developed in the respective teaching unit.

“It is with immense joy that the team from the Doutor Aristófanes Bezerra de Castro municipal school presents a little of its work to all of Brazil. Rescue work with EJA students, through our project ‘We don’t give up on you at ABC’ is one of our differentials. Students feel valued and continue their studies at school, with high self-esteem, despite all the difficulties”, he reported.
