Eighth repatriation flight lands in Brazil with 66 Brazilians and 3 Bolivians

Sixty-six Brazilians and three Bolivian women returned to Brazil this Saturday morning (21) on the eighth repatriation flight for citizens who asked for help to leave Israel. With this rescue, Operation Returning in Peace has already reached 1,201 people rescued from the country since the beginning of the conflicts, on October 7th.

According to the government, the Brazilian Air Force KC-390 plane landed in Recife in the early hours of the morning, leaving two passengers, and ended the flight in Rio de Janeiro hours later, where another 67 people disembarked. Nine pets were also brought with them.

In addition to this flight, a ninth took off from Rio de Janeiro in the late afternoon of Friday (20) and landed in Rome also on the morning of this Saturday (21), where it made a technical stop until it was authorized to fly to Tel Aviv, where another group of Brazilians and foreigners must be rescued. It is expected to land in Brazil in the early hours of Monday (23).

According to the Brazilian ambassador to Israel, Frederico Meyer, 176 Brazilians and 15 foreigners from Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay will be rescued. This, in principle, is the last repatriation flight, but the operation could be resumed if more citizens ask for help to return to the country.

On the other hand, the sixth repatriation flight to rescue Brazilians in Gaza is still awaiting approval from the Egyptian authorities, as their departure will be made via the border between the conflicted territory and the country. The plane provided by the Presidency of the Republic continues to wait in Cairo to rescue around 30 people, including Brazilians and foreigners who are their direct relatives.

Itamaraty informed that the vehicles that will transport Brazilians from the cities of Khan Younis and Rafah to the border and, after crossing, to the airport that will be used, remain on standby.
