Education secretaries from all over the country discuss educational public policies, in the Amazon

In addition to the national agenda, the 3rd extraordinary meeting of Consed discussed peculiarities of the Amazon

Amazonas hosted, on May 25 and 26, the 3rd extraordinary meeting of the National Council of Secretaries of Education (Consed). The meeting brought together, in Manaus, education secretaries from all over the country, in addition to representatives of the Ministry of Education (MEC).

During the two days, the extraordinary meeting discussed public policies for education and the peculiarities of the Amazon. During the meeting, the results of the council’s working groups were also presented, divided into fronts: Secondary Education, Technology, Valuing Teachers, Collaboration Regime and Financing.

Consed meeting

The Secretary of State for Education and School Sports, Kuka Chaves, vice president of Consed for the North region, pointed out the relevance of debating issues related to education in Brazil and the North.

“I am immensely grateful that Amazonas hosted an event of such importance for education. In these national meetings, we were able to scale, discuss solutions and share good practices that we have developed in our states, with a focus on quality public education”,

highlighted Kuka Chaves.

The Secretary of Education of Rio Grande do Sul and vice-president of Consed for the South region, Raquel Teixeira, highlighted the moment that education in the country is facing.

“It is important to emphasize that we are going through delicate moments, with the situation of threats to schools, so this is another point that we are going to include in our discussion agendas, so that prevention can inhibit and even avoid situations like these”,

emphasized Raquel Teixeira.

The undersecretary of Planning and Strategic Actions of the Secretary of Education of Rio de Janeiro, Myriam Silva, said that despite the different realities, it is necessary to join efforts to seek innovative solutions for students.

“We seek to bring, to every point of this country, an emancipatory education, focusing on the integrality of critical subjects, aware of their importance in the social fabric and active in the exercise of their citizenship and also, thinking about actions that promote the improvement of the quality of education, because we believe that education is the solution”,

MEC

In addition to the representatives of the states and the Federal District, the meeting was also attended by the president of the National Institute of Educational Studies and Research Anísio Teixeira (INEP), Manuel Palácios, and the secretary of Articulation with the Educational Systems of the Ministry of Education (Sase), Maurício Holanda.

With MEC representatives, matters such as the public consultation of the New Secondary School, the National Education System, the New Enem and national assessments were dealt with.

In addition to the agenda of meetings, the Consed program in Manaus included a visit to the premises of the Amazonas Education Media Center (Cemeam), of the Education Secretariat, a national reference for its work in the 62 municipalities of the state, promoting transmissions of classes online. -line for students in riverside, rural and remote communities throughout the Amazon.

The delegation also visited the monitoring room of the School Security Intelligence Center (Nise), an initiative created by the Government of Amazonas with the aim of combating and preventing all forms of violence within schools. Nise has adopted security measures to inhibit threats and attacks in teaching units of the state network.

Closing the program, on the second day of the meeting, the priority themes of Consed’s Learning Agenda were discussed, including debates on the New Secondary School and Fiscal Framework. The leading secretaries of the working groups presented feedback from their areas, with suggestions for actions for the coming months.
