Gabriela, 31, and Caroline, 37, are the Kishimoto sisters, responsible for the new house dedicated to craft beers in the central region of São Paulo, Cervejaria Duas Irmãs.

With a more root-bar style, Duas Irmãs offers beers, delicacies and other no-frills gorós, in a simple and welcoming environment in which the clientele can drink at the bar, at the few tables in the internal hall or even gather at the entrance.

The youngest, Gabi, is responsible for the main item in the house, the beers —Carol is more in charge of the administrative side; and both are also behind the brewery counter, close to Barão de Limeira avenue, in Campos Elíseos.

Graduated in food engineering, Gabi switched from cheese to beers after a trip to Germany in 2016. In the middle of traditional German school, she found an internship at the artisanal Berlina Berg, in the capital Berlin.

Back in Brazil, he passed through Dádiva (São Paulo), where he was a “factory floor” brewer. “I did the mashing, the whole process of grinding the malt, filtering, boiling, fermentation control”, she recalls. Later, at Zalaz, in Minas Gerais, Gabi was the responsible brewer, also taking care of the creation of recipes. There, during the pandemic, the idea of ​​having your own brand came up.

“My hobby in Minas was going to the middle of a rural community and visiting pubs. I love that culture. I missed that in the craft beer, which always seems to have something glamorous, gourmet. I wish I could have a beer at the bar listening to Reginaldo Rossi,” he jokes.

Duas Irmãs is a brewpub, that is, it produces its own beer in-house. At the back of the bar, the tanks deliver a small production, with a maximum capacity of 800 liters per month to supply the house.

At the opening, five labels were engaged: Pilsen Duas Irmãs, Azedinha (sour with guava and hibiscus) and Da Estação (blond ale with mango) and two guests, one of wheat (Cervejaria 77) and the indian pale ale Ypacarai (Catimba ); all with a very attractive price (R$ 14, with 300 ml).

Two other taps offer refreshing sodas (with blackberry and mint or ginger and lemon). There are also distillates, infusions (with catuaba, for example) and the coconut beat (inauguration success).

As well as drinks, the food menu is not fixed and also values ​​simple snacks, from the hot or cold oven, such as a portion of quail eggs, lupine, lizard or sausage with onions. All served by the sisters with that friendliness of a bar.
