Draw defines Brazil’s opponents in the under-17 World Cup – News of Brazil


The Brazilian U-17 team is in group C of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Indonesia 2023, alongside Iran, New Caledonia and England. The draw was held this Friday (15), at FIFA headquarters, in Zurich, Switzerland. Current World and South American champions, Brazil is the group’s top seed and is looking for its fifth world title in the category.

According to the order of the draw, coach Phelipe Leal’s team will make its debut on November 11th against Iran. On the 14th, Canarinho returns to the field against New Caledonia. England will be the team’s last opponent, on the 17th. The days are based on the host country’s local time. Afterwards, the departure times in Brazil will be confirmed. The World Cup will start on November 10th, and the grand final is scheduled for December 2nd. Bandung, Surakarta, Surabaya and Jakarta are the cities that will host the games.

Leader and vice-leader of each group qualify for the next phase, in addition to the four best third-placed teams from the entire World Cup. FIFA President Gianni Infantino also announced that, from 2025, the U17 World Cup will be held annually. In the current format, the competition takes place every two years. It is worth remembering that there was no edition in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
