The federal deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT) is fighting a battle in the National Congress to approve a law (1809/23), of his authorship, that combats fake news in health, especially about vaccines.
This week, the federal government launched the ‘Health with Science’ program, which also has the same objective. At the launch ceremony, the deputy was with several ministers and presented one of the prizes to students who developed projects to combat fake news about vaccination.
The project of Malafaia It arises from the need to prevent the mass dissemination, especially on the internet and social networks, of information that is not true and ‘scientific’ research that never existed. These are called fake news.
“This debate is very important. A single lie spread thousands, millions of times, via WhatsApp, Instagram or Facebook, can lead to the loss of thousands of lives. In Covid-19, we face, to this day, the false denialism that terrorized the population and our lives only returned to normal because of vaccines. We have the return of measles, the threat of polio, in short, it is a fundamental project”declared the deputy.
One of the excerpts from Bill (PL) 1809 establishes:
“Art. 29-A Providers of digital applications that make content generated by third parties available on internet platforms have the obligation to remove false or misleading content that has the potential to cause harm to the health of the population within twelve hours of receipt of notification by the competent body of municipal, district, state or federal health services.”
The project is being processed by the Science, Technology and Innovation Commission, however, Dorinaldo has been working to put it on an urgent basis and thus speed up its approval.
