Manaus (AM) — Councilor Kennedy Marques (PMN), rescued this Thursday morning (8), a dog that was abandoned in a trash can, on São Luiz Street, Coroado neighborhood, East Zone of Manaus.

Kennedy received the complaint via a video, which shows the animals inside a garbage basket, wrapped in garbage bags. According to Marques, the animals almost died due to lack of oxygen.
“We will locate the person who did this and bring the police to their door. Let’s show that there is law and that there are people who love and protect animals,”
emphasizes Kennedy.
The rescued animal received full veterinary care, while the other had not been located.
Abandoning animals is a crime according to federal law 9,605/98. In 2020, with the approval of Law 14,064/20, the penalty for those who mistreat or abandon animals is two to five years in prison.
