The side Rodrigo Gelado20 years old, ex-Vila Nova-GO, announced by Coritiba at the end of 2023, and goalkeeper Benassiof the same age, ex-Ferroviária, are part of a profile that, according to the club’s football executive, Junior ChávareSAF intends to invest.

Young and promising athletes are the requirements of a guideline that Coxa has to reinforce the squad in 2024.

“You will get more and more used to the fact that Coxa will be at the forefront of negotiations for young prospects for local football. This is a policy that the SAF has a very focused guideline for and we will make it happen”, stated Chávare, this Wednesday (10), during a press conference at CT da Graciosa.

The most recent signing is goalkeeper Benassi, from Ferroviária, who should be announced in the coming days. The athlete is considered a jewel of the team from the interior of São Paulo, a club where Chávere himself had been working before making the deal with Coxa.

“When we went to look for Benassi, it is a market opportunity much more driven by what SAF represents than by the player’s need to go to a club”, explains the executive.

Gelado, created at the Vila Nova base, is also a young highlight. He was a revelation athlete at the Inconfidência Trophy, at the beginning of 2023, for the Minas Gerais team.

Coxa will prioritize integration of the base into the State

In last Wednesday’s press conference (11), which lasted around 90 minutes, Chávare detailed the player rotation scheme that should be used in the Paraná Championship. The priority is to have an entire “third team” made up of base athletes.

“The profile that we really want to operate in is that we have a small group of professionals, and that third team must be under-20. Because one of the things that we are not going to give up is the integration between the main team and the categories base”, he explained.

According to Chávare, Alviverde’s squad will have to be robust due to the short preparation time. Coxa started training 13 days before his debut in the State Championship, on January 18th.

“The state championship will require us to have a slightly larger number of athletes. While most of us have been training since December, we will only have a few days left. So there will have to be a rotation. And then I need to have a little more athletes at this time”, he said.

In the training session that preceded the press conference, open to the press, it was possible to see some under-17 and under-20 athletes on the field.

“At Coritiba, quality has no age, you can demand that from me. If there is a player who is asking for a ticket, it will not be his age or his name that will define whether he will be integrated into the main team or not”, he stated. .
