Dino blocks Nikolas and other opponents on social networks – 03/27/2023 – Politics

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino (PSB), has blocked opponents on social networks, in an attitude similar to that of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
In August 2021, the organization Human Rights Watch released a report in which it reported that Bolsonaro had blocked more than 170 accounts on social networks – the list included people critical of his government and media outlets.
On Sunday (26), the head of Justice blocked the profile of Bolsonarist deputy Nikolas Ferreira (PL-MG). In this way, the parliamentarian cannot see the publications made by Dino.
Dino had already blocked other opposition parliamentarians on different occasions, such as deputy Carlos Jordy (PL-RJ), in January of this year; and Deputy Marcos Feliciano (PL-SP) last week.
Deputy Nikolas Ferreira mocked the minister’s attitude and said that he should personally meet with him in the Chamber of Deputies, this Tuesday (28), during a public hearing.
“He blocked me, but that’s okay… Tuesday we’ll meet in person at the CCJ, Minister”, said the deputy on social networks.
Contacted by the report, the Ministry of Justice did not respond about the blockages until the publication of the report.
The blockades made by Bolsonaro to profiles critical of his government on social networks led to a lawsuit in the STF (Federal Supreme Court), still pending judgment.
The expectation is that the case will be analyzed in June. The court ministers must analyze whether Bolsonaro —as a public agent— could carry out this type of blocking or whether this would constitute some kind of damage to the right of access to information.
Although he is no longer a public agent, the action against Bolsonaro may establish an understanding to be applied to other servers.
Dino has already confirmed his presence at the CCJ (Constitution and Justice Commission) of the Chamber of Deputies this Tuesday. The invitation to the minister was approved last week.
Among the points that must be clarified by the minister are the arms policy in Brazil and his trip to Complexo da Maré, on March 13.
According to Dino, the visit to Complexo da Maré took place at the invitation of the NGO Redes da Maré. The agenda, however, became the target of criticism from opposition parliamentarians, including the dissemination of fake news about the minister’s agenda on the spot.
Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), for example, posted a video on social media showing the minister’s visit. In the post, Eduardo claims that Flávio Dino entered the “most armed favela complex in Rio with just two cars and without exchanging shots”, which, according to him, would show the minister’s alleged involvement in the crime.
It is false, however, the claim that Dino would go to the complex to meet with criminals.
According to information from the Ministry of Justice and Public Security, the Federal Police, the Federal Highway Police, the Military Police and the Civil Police participated in the security of the minister and other members of the portfolio à Maré. In a note, the Federal Police also confirms that it provided security for the minister at the time.
People heard by Sheet they said the minister was escorted by PF agents, who were not in uniform.
