According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, there may be an increase of 0.7% in diesel and 4% in kerosene. Measures to encourage biofuels were launched this Wednesday (14). Petrobras predicts that diesel prices should remain high in the 2nd half of the year Gabriel Bastos/A7 Press/Estadão Conteúdo The prices of diesel and aviation kerosene may increase with the implementation of measures to encourage biofuels launched this Wednesday (14) by the federal government. The information is contained in a letter signed by the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira, and sent to President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT). The project still needs to be approved by Congress. According to Silveira, there is a forecast of an increase of up to 0.7% in B diesel oil – the result of mixing with biodiesel, which is sold at gas stations. The increase would be for each percentage point of the mandatory mixture. “It is noted that the impact of the measure would generate a maximum increase of 0.7% in the price of a liter of B diesel oil [vendido nos postos] for each percentage point of mixing mandate”, says the minister in the letter. Green diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) are produced through the transformation of renewable raw materials. Vegetable or natural fats animals, sugar cane and waste are examples of materials used in production. ✅Click here to follow the new g1 channel on WhatsApp. ⚠️The old group will be deactivated. In other words, with a mandatory reduction of 1%, the price would increase by up to 4%. With a reduction of 2 %, another 4% increase. However, the ministry emphasizes that the estimate was made based on the current price of sustainable fuel on the international market. According to the ministry, the situation is one of high demand and low supply of the fuel, which increases the price. “[Os] volumes do not yet reflect the gains to be acquired from the learning curve and the increase in expected production of these fuels. As a result, a significantly lower impact than estimated is expected in 2027”, writes Silveira in the letter. The government’s intention is for there to be a progressive increase in the mixture. The Combustível do Futuro program brings the percentage of reduction in emissions of greenhouse gases through the use of sustainable aviation fuel. From 2027 to 2037, airlines must reduce emissions by at least: 2027 – 1% 2028 – 1% 2029 – 2% 2030 – 3% 2031 – 4 % 2032 – 5% 2033 – 6% 2034 – 7% 2035 – 8% 2036 – 9% 2037 – 10%
