A post by the American actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio about the vote on the time frame of indigenous lands, published this Thursday (8) on social media, was contested using official data by the Movimento Advogados de Direita Brasil.

The civil movement countered the virtual campaign created by the actor, who intends to convince the president of the Senate, Rodrigo Pacheco (PSD-MG), to reject the project, which should soon be discussed in the plenary of the House, after being approved in the Chamber of Deputies.

In the post (look here), the actor says that the project, if approved, will “be catastrophic for the Amazon, the indigenous peoples who live there and our planet”.

The speech was contested by the movement (look here), who posted that Brazil today has 66% of its territory protected, while in the United States this index is only 19%, according to data from Embrapa and the US Department of Agriculture.
