DF PM commander arrested for omission on January 8 – 08/18/2023 – Power

The Federal Police arrested this Friday morning (18) the commander of the Military Police of the Federal District, Klepter Rosa Gonçalves. Other members of the corporation, such as former commander Fabio Vieira, are also targets. In all, seven arrest warrants are served by the PF.

In addition to the steps, other members of the PM summit at the time of January 8 were denounced by the PGR (Attorney General of the Republic) on suspicion of omission on the day of the attacks on the buildings of the three Powers.

According to the PGR, the investigation found that there was “deep ideological contamination” among PM officers in the DF. The PGR also states that members of the PM’s command have shown themselves to be supporters of “conspiracy theories about electoral fraud and coup theories”.

Another reason for the arrests, says the Attorney General’s Office, was the fact that the PM leadership had received intelligence information about the possibility of attacks on public buildings before January 8th.

The information, he says, “indicated the coup intentions of the movement and the imminent risk of an effective invasion of the headquarters of the Three Powers.”

“According to the existing evidence, the accused were previously aware of the risks and intentionally adhered to the foreseeable criminal result, failing to fulfill their functional duty to act,” the PGR said in a note.

Klepter Gonçalves took command of the PM after the January 8, appointed by the intervenor in public security in the Federal District, Ricardo Cappelli, to assume the position on an interim basis —he had been responsible for the performance of the police force in the inauguration of President Lula (PT ).

Naime was the head of the sector responsible for drawing up the security plan in the federal capital to prevent coup attacks. He was exonerated from the post after the anti-democratic acts. He was also denounced by the PGR and is in prison after being the target of operation Lesa Pátria.

Although the investigations are conducted by the PF, by order of Alexandre de Moraes, it was the PGR commanded by Augusto Aras that requested the arrests carried out this Friday and denounced the military police.

A month after the attacks, on February 7, members of the PM leadership had already been targets of the Lesa Pátria operation, launched by the PF. At the time, Colonel Naime, still detained today, Major Flavio Silvestre de Alencar, Captain Josiel Pereira César and Lieutenant Rafael Pereira Martins were arrested.

While the PGR calls for arrests, the PF is currently following four investigation fronts opened after the January 8 acts.

One of them targets possible intellectual authors, and it is this front that can reach Bolsonaro. Another aims to map the funders and those responsible for the logistics of the camp and transporting Bolsonaristas to Brasília.

The third focus of the PF investigation is vandals. Investigators want to identify and individualize the conduct of each of those involved in the depredation of historic buildings in the federal capital.

The fourth line of investigation advances on authorities that were omitted during the 8th of January and that facilitated the action of the coup plotters.
