Develops: FecomercioSP wants more advantageous discounts – 12/09/2023 – Panel SA

FecomercioSP argues that, in order to reduce defaults in the country, Desenrola Brasil must offer more advantageous discounts to customers. The entity also considers that interest-free installments and reduced bureaucracy to settle debts can help with the federal government’s program.

Gaps in the program limited the number of renegotiations. One of the main problems was the offering of discounts that were not always different from those offered by financial institutions, banks and retailers.

In FecomercioSP’s calculations, there is more than R$110 billion in active debts with the financial system. In the balance presented by the Ministry of Finance, the first phases of the program resulted in R$29 billion in outstanding financial issues being renegotiated — a value well below that projected by the federation.

“Even with average discounts of around 90% on cash payments, many families would not be able to pay them off with the resources they have”, says FecomercioSP.

Another complaint from the entity involves optimizing the debt adherence process. Currently, anyone who wants to participate in the program needs a silver or gold profile on the federal government platform, Gov.br.

“This means registering digital documents, access codes, linking bank accounts and placing email verification steps in the application, procedures that are not so accessible to a large part of the indebted population, especially those with low incomes”, states the federation.

For FecomercioSP, the government must adjust problems identified in the first phases by issuing a new provisional measure. The entity assesses that removing the Gov.br requirement will bring flexibility.

“The end of the guarantee fund, after the end of the project, however, is a dilemma: today, it provides financial support to those who do not receive the renegotiation values. Without it, companies may see less attractiveness, reducing their capillarity in the program “, he evaluates.
