Descorchados, a reference publication on South American wines, reaches its 26th edition in 2024. This year, the guide features more than 4,000 labels tasted and produced in wineries in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Brazil, Peru and Bolivia. The launch events take place this Tuesday (9) and Thursday (11), in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, respectively. Tickets are already sold out.

According to the current published version, the indications were marked by the strong presence of white wines, with emphasis on Andean wines, from Mendoza, in Argentina, and Atlantic wines, from Garzón, in Uruguay. In Brazil, the guide highlights light reds.

According to the author, journalist and critic Patricio Tapia, red wines that go back to Chile’s past, with less alcohol and intervention, and the heyday of the country’s Garnacha also deserve attention. In Bolivia and Peru, for him, there are surprises.

For the first time, some labels achieved the maximum score in the evaluation. The Argentine wines Zuccardi Finca Piedra Infinita Supercal and Catena Adrianna Vineyard Mundus Bacillus Terrae, both from the 2021 harvest, were classified with 100 points.

The publication, published in Spanish, English and Portuguese, is distributed in Latin America, but also in countries such as the United States, Mexico and China. Descorchados emerged in 1999 as a selection of the best wines from Chile, the country of its writer. Argentine labels were added to the selection in 2006 and Uruguayan labels in the 2014 edition.
