With threats and shouts of “fascist” and “guardianship council”, militants insulted deputy Ana Campagnolo (PL-SC) and her two daughters – the eldest of three years old and the baby just 14 days old – during a session of the Legislative Assembly of Santa Catarina (SC) this Tuesday (19). “A portrait of what the ‘relative democracy’ defended by the left is,” stated the deputy on her social networks.

According to her, the unionists “didn’t even have the qualms about sparing the children from their manifestations of hatred”, as she and her daughters were even threatened with physical violence. Part of the demonstrations were recorded, but the parliamentarian reported that “the portion captured did not record everything that was said there”.

In the recording, it is possible to hear shouts of “fascist” and also a chorus calling for the Child Protection Council due to the deputy being accompanied by the girls at work. Campagnolo is entitled to six months of maternity leave, but waived her right in order to continue defending issues being processed at Alesc.

According to their press office, the two girls are free to accompany their mother, including the baby, who is in good health and breastfed exclusively. “Child in excellent general condition, fed exclusively with breast milk, with good weight gain”, informs the newborn’s medical certificate.

The office also reported that it has already contacted women’s protection bodies to request a position on the matter, but none have responded. “Depending on which side you are on, women and children are not worthy of protection and respect from those who live on relativism”, lamented the parliamentarian on social media.

Until this Wednesday (20), she only received individual expressions of support, such as that from federal deputy Amália Barros (PL-MT), from Mato Grosso. “It is unacceptable that Congresswoman Ana Campagnolo went through this embarrassment and intimidation in the Chamber, especially accompanied by her daughters!”, he criticized on Instagram. “As a deputy, woman and vice-president of PL Mulher, I express here my solidarity with Ana and my rejection of this sick left!”

Agenda in progress at Alesc

During the Alesc session this Tuesday (19), deputies debated the Complementary Law Project (PLC) 31/2023, from the Executive Branch, which changes the pensions of state public servants. From the gallery, trade unionists – most of them teachers – tried to prevent those in favor of the proposal from speaking. Ana and other parliamentarians voted in favor of the text, which was approved with 27 votes in favor and 11 against.
