Manaus (AM) — Deputy Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil) presented the bill nº 602/2023 that grants half-price in cultural, sports and leisure events in Amazonas for donors of one of the kidneys and donors of part of the lung, liver or bone marrow. The proposal amends state law No. 5,152, which already benefits donors.

“The bill in question is very beneficial, as it encourages and expands organ donations in the state. Brazil is the second country in the world that performs the most transplants, behind only the United States”

said Abraham.

According to the article, regular blood donors will benefit from the half-price, those registered with the Hospital Foundation for Hematology and Hemotherapy of Amazonas (Hemoam) and the state blood banks, identified by official document, issued by these entities.

Also according to the bill, will also benefit donors of one of the kidneys and donors of part of the lung, liver or bone marrow, identified by official document with photo issued by the State Department of Health of Amazonas (Seas).

“According to the Ministry of Health, in 2021, 23,500 procedures were performed in Brazil. Of this total, 4,800 were kidney transplants, 2,000 liver, 334 heart and 84 lung, among others. The country has more than 600 authorized transplant hospitals”

he concluded.

The bill has already been approved by the Committee on Constitution, Justice and Writing (CCJR) of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) and goes to the other committees for voting in plenary.
