Deputy wants to force Bolsonaro to vaccinate her daughter Laura – 05/03/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Federal deputy Luciene Cavalcante (PSOL-SP) filed a representation with the Federal Public Ministry (MPF) of the Federal District and Territories in asking that the fact that the youngest daughter of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) and former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro, Laura, has not been vaccinated against Covid-19. The demand has already been forwarded to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the Defense of Childhood and Youth of the agency.

The parliamentarian also requests that the body take the appropriate measures to force the former representative and the former first lady to vaccinate Laura. She cites decision taken in 2020 by the STF (Supreme Federal Court) which established that the State can, yes, determine citizens to vaccinate themselves. At the time, the court also ruled that the parents’ freedom of philosophical and religious belief cannot be imposed on children.

Cavalcante adds that the Child and Adolescent Statute provides for mandatory vaccination in children in cases recommended by health authorities —as with Covid-19. And that the Federal Constitution states that it is the duty of the family, society and the State to ensure the right to health for those under 18 years of age.

“As can be seen, vaccination of children and adolescents is essential to guarantee their health, and must take precedence over freedom of conscience and philosophical conviction. , according to its competence”, says the representative of the PSOL deputy.

The Federal Police (PF) is investigating the suspicion that Laura Bolsonaro and the former president himself have had their vaccination card against Covid-19 tampered with. In addition to the three members of the Bolsonaro family, former presidential advisers were also search and seizure targets this Wednesday (3).

According to the PF, the suspects allegedly attempted to insert false data on Covid-19 vaccination into the Ministry of Health system between November 2021 and December 2022.

In a note published this Wednesday, the former representative’s defense stated that Laura would not have been vaccinated against the coronavirus “due to preexisting comorbidities”, which would be attested by doctors.

“The former first lady, Mrs. Michelle, as widely publicized, was vaccinated, with a single dose immunization, in the year 2021. The couple’s youngest daughter, in turn, was prohibited from receiving any immunization due to preexisting comorbidities , situation always and duly attested by doctors”, said the defense.

In addition to representation with the MPF, deputy Luciene Cavalcante sent a petition to the US Embassy asking that it be clarified whether Jair Bolsonaro even presented any proof of vaccination against Covid-19 when he arrived in the country.

“If the use of a false document is proven to enter the United States, [solicito] information on what measures will be adopted by this government against the former president”, says the parliamentarian.
