Deputy wants Bolsonaro to recant himself via video with fake news about drought – 10/26/2023 – Panel

Federal deputy Dandara (PT-MG) sent a letter to the AGU (Attorney General of the Union) asking the body to take measures so that former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) retracts the video published on his social networks with false information about the drought in the Northeast during the Lula (PT) government.
As the Panel showed, the former president posted a video showing a man diving in a canal in Barbalha (400 km from Fortaleza), in Ceará. The caption says that the recording was made in March 2022, during the Bolsonaro government, with the aim of showing water abundance. However, the filming was carried out in May 2023, already under the PT administration.
In the letter, the deputy says it is unacceptable for a former president to continue “creating, on a daily basis, instabilities in the national territory through the indiscriminate propagation of fake news that he should – as he already held the position of Maximum Head of the Federal Executive Power – fight day in and day out. “
Dandara also calls for the former president to be sentenced for collective moral damages. “It is unacceptable that a former president continues to disseminate fake news, undermining national stability and democracy. The video that shows the lack of water is not even in the transposition section. The disinformation machine of Bolsonarism, even a year after the election , remains active”, criticizes the parliamentarian.
