In spite of the fact that the level of the Jari river, in the south of the state, has risen a little more than seven centimeters in the last 24 hours, the state deputy Alliny Serrão lives the expectation that this year the region will have a smaller flood than last year.
The parliamentarian, who is president of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), recalls that in 2022 Laranjal do Jari, her political stronghold, spent three months suffering from a major flood. “Today we are optimistic. We believe in a smaller flood, based on meteorological forecasts.”justified Alliny.
The deputy informed that the Civil Defense is present in the municipality, prepared to act in case the flooding increases and threatens the population of Laranjal do Jari. In order to always be up-to-date with the movement of the river, members of the Civil Defense carry out a continuous survey of the level of the Jari and monitor the situation of the families.
By phone, Alliny Serrão talked over the weekend with the governor Clecio Luis, on the flooding of the Jari River, as well as with the Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Goes. The two said they were attentive to information to mobilize relief teams, if necessary.
