The president of the Agriculture and Supply Commission (CAB) of the Legislative Assembly of Amapá (Alap), Júnior Favacho (MDB) presented a request to the House requesting that the Government of Amapá (GEA) build a cocoa processing factory to serve the Community from Vila Velha do Cassiporé, in the municipality of Oiapoque.
The proposal aims to boost the local economy and promote sustainable development in the region. Júnior Favacho highlighted the strategic importance of the initiative, highlighting the community’s potential to become a high-quality cocoa producing hub.
He emphasized that the establishment of the factory would not only generate direct jobs, but would also open opportunities for local farmers, strengthening the cocoa production chain. “The community has great potential in cocoa cultivation, which even supplies chocolate production in the region.
“Building a factory adds value to the raw material, allowing farmers to sell processed cocoa at higher prices, which can increase their income. It can also help to promote tourism, attracting tourists interested in learning about the production process in the community”said the parliamentarian.
In addition to the economic benefits, the deputy highlighted the social and environmental aspects of the proposal. The factory would not only provide income for local residents, but would also encourage sustainable agricultural practices, in line with the principles of environmental preservation.
