Deputy Felipe Camozzato (Novo-RS) filed a lawsuit against the appointment of lawyer Cristiano Zanin to the Federal Supreme Court (STF) made by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday (6/1).

According to the parliamentarian, Zanin does not meet the requirement of “remarkable legal knowledge” provided for in the Constitution for the exercise of the position. Camozzato also claims that the lawyer is close to the president.

“Zanin was only known for having defended the current president in the Lava Jato processes. He doesn’t have a master’s degree, he doesn’t have a doctorate. He does not have a public career. The books he wrote deal with Lava Jato and Lula’s defense,” he says.

Camozzato also claims, in the popular action, that Zanin did not hold relevant positions like other ministers of the Supreme Court or functions linked to the government. “The supposed ‘remarkable knowledge’ of the nominee does not come from the services rendered to public careers”, he added.
