Manaus (AM) – The Amazonas Advanced Cervical Cancer Prevention Center (Cepcolu), from the Cecon Foundation (FCecon), will receive economic support for the completion of the works. State deputy Delegado Péricles (PL) announced the sending of funds, worth more than R$1.4 million, to complete the construction of the Center.

On the occasion, Péricles recalled that Cepcolu is the dream of many people, in particular, the manager of the Gynecology service at FCecon, doctor Mônica Bandeira, highlighting that the Center, in addition to providing assistance in combating the disease, should offer a structure modern technology for healthcare professionals.

“Cepcolu will transform the reality of Amazonas, which today holds the record for cervical cancer. I will report to Governor Wilson Lima, who I know is sensitive to the cause and will help us and join forces so that we can realize the dream not only of Dr. Mônica, but of so many people who need it. So, God willing, many women will be saved with the treatment carried out by this Center, which will be a milestone in the prevention of this disease”,

declared the parliamentarian.

Doctor Mônica Bandeira informed that Cepcolu will be a hospital that will operate during the day, with four operating rooms, four gynecological offices, an amphitheater for training and qualification of new professionals, who will perform small surgeries, called conization, which prevent the women have cervical cancer.

“When a woman has inflammation that comes before cancer, it can be treated, preventing this inflammation from transforming into invasive cancer in the future. We have 70% of the Cepcolu works completed. The Center will be, without a shadow of a doubt, in the last 30 years the impactful action in confronting this tragedy that means a woman in 2024 will still die from cervical cancer, which is 100% preventable”,

explained the doctor.

Bandeira also thanked Deputy Delegate Péricles for his sensitivity in always being willing to contribute to the creation of the Center. “Cepcolu will be the pillar and the true portal for us to face a cancer that here in Amazonas, unfortunately, still has 23 deaths on average every month and where more than 270 women die every year. So deputy, thank you very much for your attention to Cepcolu”, he concluded.
