Federal deputy Danilo Forte (União-CE), former president of Funasa (National Health Foundation), presented a request for the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa, to appear before the Constitution and Justice Commission of the Chamber to explain the plans of extinction of the organ.
The government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) presented as one of its first measures the intention to close Funasa’s activities, transferring its attributions to the ministries of Health and Cities.
The plan faces resistance in Congress, since the body, with great capillarity in small municipalities, usually shelters political indications.
There is also a fear that Funasa’s attributions today, especially in the area of sanitation, will not be absorbed by other bodies.
For Forte, the provisional measure released by the government does not explain how the distribution and capacity of current servants and employees will be carried out, “causing enormous insecurities within the most vulnerable communities, such as indigenous peoples, quilombolas and riverside communities that were served by the agency” .
The parliamentarian also wants the minister to explain the transfer of the National Supply Company (Conab) to the Ministry of Agrarian Development (MDA) and the changes in the casting vote of the Tax Resources Administration Council (Carf).
