Deltan Dallagnol’s statement to the Federal Police is postponed

The Federal Police postponed the testimony of federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR). The hearing was scheduled for this Friday (2), but was rescheduled for next Monday (5). Dallagnol was summoned to testify on the 30th, but the reason was only informed when the parliamentarian appeared before the PF. According to the note sent by Dallagnol’s advisory, an interview given by the deputy would have motivated the subpoena. He claims he does not know “which penal rule would have been violated”.

Dallagnol’s testimony, according to sources heard by People’s Gazette, was asked by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), for the deputy to explain, in the condition of subpoena, the criticisms made to the Electoral Justice, after the removal of his mandate by the Superior Electoral Court (TSE).

Subsequently, the information was confirmed by the deputy’s advisory. In a note, she informed that “in the act of collecting testimony today, [o deputado] discovered that he was summoned to testify as an investigated person about an interview he did as a parliamentarian, regarding facts related to his activity, exercising his right and protected by his immunity over opinions and words, not being able to give more details about the investigation due to secrecy decreed by the Federal Supreme Court on the procedure”.

In addition, still in a note, the advisory explained that the postponement was due to the fact that “the deputy only had access to the reason for the investigation at the time of the deposition, and his lawyer only had access to the file moments before the hearing”.

Dallagnol said he will ask the defense to ask the STF to withdraw the secrecy, so that the acts can be publicized.

Cassation and defense

By seven votes to zero, the TSE understood that the parliamentarian violated the Clean Record Law by asking for dismissal from the position of attorney to avoid a possible administrative disciplinary process.

Last Tuesday (30), the deputy delivered his defense, in writing, to the Corregedoria of the Chamber of Deputies. The Board will now analyze the defense.
