Deltan criticizes TSE, attacks Lula and spares Bolsonaro – 05/30/2023 – Politics

The impeached federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) returned to criticize this Monday (29) the decision of the TSE (Superior Federal Court) that removed his mandate and said, evaluating President Lula, he does not think “twice about defending [Jair] Bolsonaro”.

Deltan, former coordinator of the Operation Lava Jato task force, stated that he has disagreements with the former president, but that he would not criticize in the sense of “disuniting the right” of the country.

The statements were given to the program Roda Viva, on TV Cultura. In the interview, he was asked about suspected corruption involving the previous government, such as the case of jewelry brought from Saudi Arabia in 2021, and said that he does not know the cases in depth to give an opinion, unlike President Lula’s processes in Lava Jato.

“With regard to Bolsonaro, I do not agree with everything he says, with everything he has done. I will not stay here dividing the right. My position is not to divide the right,” he said, who supported the former president in the second round. of the 2022 election.

Deltan also reinforced the interpretation that the TSE removed him without justification compatible with the Clean Record Law —the text prohibits the participation in lawsuits of members of the Public Ministry who are targets of PADs (Disciplinary Administrative Procedures).

The decision took place on the 16th, but the loss of mandate has not yet been declared.

“The question in my case is clear and objective: was there a procedure when I left the Public Ministry? No. These rules need to be interpreted literally”, said the former coordinator of the Lava Jato task force, reiterating the intention of the reporting minister of the case, Benedito Gonçalves, of removing him from office to claim a vacancy at the STF (Federal Supreme Court).

Questioned, however, about the unanimity of the decision and the vote of ministers such as Kassio Nunes Marques, nominated by Bolsonaro, he decided not to analyze them individually.

“I spoke of the rapporteur, now, I’m not going to analyze one by one, it may be that one decided out of conviction. I’m not saying that he is convinced, but in the case of Benedito [Gonçalves] has several convictions to prove the fact”.
