The defense of former deputy Roberto Jefferson reported this Saturday (3) that his health condition is “extremely worrying”. The politician has been preventively arrested since October last year, after shooting at federal police who were carrying out search and seizure warrants at his house, in the interior of Rio de Janeiro.

“Roberto has a suspected return of the cancer, severe depression, and after having fainted and hitting his head in the fall, possibly due to dehydration and malnutrition, there is even a suspicion of head trauma”, informed the defense.

Last Friday (2), Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), determined that the director of the Bangu 8 prison, in Rio de Janeiro, report on the current state of health of the former deputy. The deadline for providing information is 24 hours.

Roberto Jefferson’s defense asked Moraes for his “immediate” transfer to Hospital Samaritano Botafogo, a private health unit. According to the lawyers, the place would have “conditions to carry out the necessary tests and offer complete and adequate medical treatment”. If he is not transferred, according to the defense, the state of health of the former deputy may deteriorate in an “irreversible” way in the face of the “seriousness and urgency of the situation”.
