Debut of Tarcísio’s Women’s Secretariat features Eduardo Bolsonaro and speaks against abortion – 03/20/2023 – Panel

The presentation event of the Secretariat of Policies for Women of the Tarcísio de Freitas government (Republicanos-SP) this Monday (20) was marked by the presence of exponents of Bolsonarism and speeches aligned with the conservative and evangelical base linked to the portfolio holder, Sonaira Fernandes.

The portfolio’s first major event was named “Unite, Woman Week”, and will feature an open program of lectures, exhibitions, debates and services aimed at the female audience, at the Latin America Memorial.

Federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), in whose office Sonaira worked, surprised him by attending the event this Monday and speaking on stage.

A critic of feminism, the former president’s son has already said that the movement is growing “because of weak men” and has already linked the problem in a subway project in São Paulo to the company’s policy for hiring women.

In his speech, the parliamentarian told of his trajectory with the secretary, who cried. She was an employee of his office after they worked together in the Federal Police. He even made a prejudiced comment when he said that Sonaira’s daughter was sleeping, but not because she was from Bahia, but because she was a baby.

State deputy Valeria Bolsonaro (PL-SP) also won a place on stage.

The Bolsonarist perspective in relation to women, which marked Sonaira’s performance as councilwoman in recent years, did not appear ostensibly, but it did not go unnoticed either.

In an interview to the event’s podcast, Moisés Marques (PP), councilor of Rio Claro, defended the fight against abortion.

“That’s why we need to defend guidelines, especially abortion. Automatically it’s already a life. When the little heart starts beating, there’s a spirit”, he said.

In her speech to the same podcast, Sonaira praised a visually impaired singer for not attributing her success “to her disability or the fact that she is a woman”.

In her social networks, the state secretary has already written that feminism “kills more than wars and diseases” and that it is a “branch of hell”.
