Manaus (AM) – Deputy Débora Menezes (PL) was chosen on Thursday afternoon (2) as president of the permanent Sports and Leisure Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) for a two-year term. The decision took place after a meeting between the parliamentarian and the president of the house, deputy Roberto Cidade (União Brasil) and other deputies.

The commission has the prerogative to act in the policy of physical education and sports, in addition to analyzing projects and programs related to the portfolio.

For the parliamentarian, chairing the committee is an opportunity to implement projects that encourage the practice of sports in the Amazon, in addition to encouraging young people, adults and the elderly to live a life with constant physical activity, in addition to assisting in the health of the house’s servants, who receive all support for the practice of sport.

“As the youngest member of parliament and having youth as one of my main flags, with a focus on investing in quality of life, employment and income for young people, in the sports commission we are going to be closer to athletes, encouraging and helping those who live from the practice of some sport modality. Sport is a way to remove young people and teenagers from the streets, it educates, disciplines and prevents these minors from being co-opted for illicit actions, so it is an area of ​​extreme importance and one that I will act in a dedicated way”,

said.

In front of the commission, Débora Menezes will also be able to propose Law Projects that originate incentive programs for specific sports, leaving the executive responsible for implementing such projects.

Constitution and Justice

With a degree in law and a member of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), Débora Menezes will serve as vice-president of the Constitution, Justice and Writing Committee (CCJR). The portfolio is responsible for evaluating the constitutional and legal aspects of the proposals, in addition to issuing an opinion on the loss of mandate, resignation or removal of the head of the legislature and his deputy.
