Death of Rota police officer commemorated by organized crime

Shortly after confirming the death of the soldier Patrick Bastos Reis, Last Thursday (27), members of criminal factions used social networks to commemorate the death of the professional, a member of the Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (Route) from São Paulo.

One of the videos shows one of the criminals singing a song in which he says he is ready to exchange fire with Rota and the Police Special Actions Battalion (Baep). At the end of the recording, he celebrates the death of soldier Reis and the injury of another policeman.

In a few minutes, the video was disseminated by other social networks, including police groups. “Operação Impacto” was launched with the aim of reducing crime in Baixada Santista. Six people were arrested It is 12 dead, after clashing with the police. Among the detainees is the man named as the author of the shot that killed soldier Patrick Reis.

Rota soldier wanted to be a jiu-jitsu champion

Patrick Reis was 30 years old, married and the father of a three-year-old boy. The policeman practiced jiu-jitsu and had the dream of becoming a world champion in the sport, according to fellow police officers. He died after being shot in the neighborhood of Vila Zilda, in Guarujá. The Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo launched the operation with a staff of 3,000 agents to carry out searches in the region.

On Monday (31), the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), spoke about the corporation’s action, defending that there was no excess and that the police reacted to threats after deaths in Baixada Santista. “From the moment the police are harassed, when police authority is disrespected, unfortunately there is confrontation. We do not want confrontation at all. Now, we cannot allow the population to be used and we cannot succumb to the narratives, we are facing drug trafficking and organized crime”, pondered the governor.

“We have an extremely professional police force that knows how to use force exactly as it needs to be used. There was no hostility, there was no excess, there was a professional performance that resulted in arrests”, added Tarcísio.
