David Almeida takes stock of management and highlights new projects for the capital

Manaus (AM) – The mayor of Manaus, David Almeida, carried out a balance of the actions of the municipal management and presented new projects that will be implemented in the capital of Amazonas. The change of location of the Manaus sanitary landfill, vacancies in municipal day care centers and major works were the main highlights during an interview with Rede Amazônica, held this Thursday (31).

The first theme explained by the mayor was about the search for alternatives for the sanitary landfill in Manaus.

“The removal of this landfill from where it is to one further away will further burden the Manaus City Hall by approximately R$ 90 million per year. The city hall has its own landfill, it is the municipal landfill, for the population of the city of Manaus, so we have the solution that we are going to present to the Justice, and I am sure that the Justice will understand our arguments and the city hall will continue to manage its sanitary landfill, expanding and making it a reference for Brazil”,

Almeida said.

During the interview, the mayor also highlighted the progress of major works taking place in the city, one of which is the road complex project at the intersection between Barão do Rio Branco and Governador José Lindoso avenues (Torres), which already reaches 45% of execution. David Almeida recalls that the work must be delivered by the end of this year, six months before the original deadline.

“We bid for delivery in the month of June next year. And we are anticipating. All the stakes are already planted and the good news that we give to the population of the city of Manaus is that we will deliver this work exactly at Christmas this year, anticipating delivery by six months”,

The head of the Municipal Executive highlighted two major works fronts in the capital that move towards the construction of new public areas with the signature of the Manaus City Hall.

“We have other major works that we are doing, such as the Amazonino Mendes park, which we are going to deliver part of on the anniversary of Manaus. The second part, we will also deliver at Christmas. We also have the large Manaus pier, the tourist pier in the center of the city which is the Lúcia Almeida viewpoint, which we will also deliver at Christmas, so there are many works that we have and all of them within the execution schedule”, he added.

New Nurseries

Concerned about the families of the city of Manaus, David Almeida also mentioned the construction of new day care centers in different areas of the city, according to city hall planning, and also announced more than 600 new vacancies.

“We are finalizing three more nurseries, one in Braga Mendes, another in Santa Etelvina, and another in Vila Nova, and all three of these works are more than 80% complete, so I believe that, between one and two months, I will be delivering and with that we are going to open more than 600 daycare spaces in these three units that we are going to deliver”, pointed out Almeida.

‘#Sou Manaus Passo a Paço 2023’

A few days away from the largest integrated arts festival in the North, mayor David Almeida spoke of the partnership with the festival’s sponsors and mentioned major national events such as the Parintins festival, the carnivals in Rio de Janeiro and Salvador, which are public, but receive public investment and sell a portion of the accesses in certain places, to generate revenue, which reverts to the organization of the events themselves.

“Carnaval in Rio is public-private, Carnival in Salvador is public-private, as well as the festival in Parintins, and #SouManaus, so that we could bring these great attractions, we needed private partnerships. This is necessary due to the investments of private companies, allowing the city hall to give this gift to the population. For the first time, we are going to have the biggest international attraction of DJs without spending a penny from the city hall, without spending a penny from the taxpayer’s resources”, said Almeida.

Then, the mayor also explained about facial recognition at the entrance to the event! and emphasized that the wristbands are for access to only two of the seven stages of the festival.

“Facial recognition will be done much earlier, right at the entrance, so everyone who wants to participate in the event will be able to enter, but for the two big stages, where the national and international attractions will be, we have this control depending on the contracts of the artists themselves, access control to avoid crowding”.
