Davi articulates acceleration of wind energy production in Amapá – News of Brazil

With the aim of boosting wind energy in Amapá, Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP) participated, this Friday (16), in Natal (RN), in the launch of the project “Offshore wind potential in the Brazilian Equatorial Margin region ”, which promises to produce renewable energy from Rio Grande do Norte to Amapá.
The project was born in 2020, shortly after 13 of the 16 municipalities in Amapá suffered a 22-day blackout, in the biggest blackout in the country’s history. Alcolumbre, then president of the Federal Senate, and Prates worked with technicians from the SENAI Institute for Innovation in Renewable Energy (ISI-ER) to carry out a study on the potential of renewable energies in Amapá, seen as a region with an Amazonian climate influenced by the activity and dynamics of the Amazon biome; and on the energy potential of the Brazilian Equatorial Margin from Amapá to Rio Grande do Norte. In addition, Alcolumbre allocated R$ 5 million to carry out the research project.
This Friday’s event promoted by the Federation of Industries of the State of RN (FIERN) and the National Industrial Learning Service (SENAI) confirmed Amapá’s potential for renewable energy. Preliminary results showed that the potential of the state’s solar resource is equivalent to regions of Brazil where there are already large-scale projects installed. Political leaders were present at the meeting, in addition to the governor of RN, Fátima Bezerra, the executive secretary of the Ministry of Development and National Integration, Valder Ribeiro, and the president of Petrobras.
′′ In 2020, we experienced one of the worst chapters, if not the worst chapter in our state’s history, and we couldn’t sit idly by. Immediately, we began to fight, together with Rio Grande do Norte, for a serious, committed study that would show all the wind power potential of our region. I am very confident that we are moving towards great advances in terms of renewable energy in our state so that the people of Amapá will never again go through the terror we went through three years ago”, stressed the senator.
During his speech, Davi Alcolumbre acknowledged Prates’ role in getting the project started. “I would like to thank all the Brazilians, technicians, civil servants, the institutions that brought us this far and I would like to record my gratitude for having met this Brazilian named Jean Paul who, in the moment of suffering in Amapá, could not have seen his concern for my condition. source. But it was based on his concern with the dramatic problem we are experiencing, that we are reaching a solution for our state”, emphasized the parliamentarian.
The governor of Rio Grande do Norte, Fátima Bezerra, recognized Davi Alcolumbre’s public spirit with the causes of Brazil and highlighted his ability to live with everyone with respect and cordiality. “We have always had a coexistence guided by the relevant public spirit, always healthy, affectionate, loving and the senator, as always, with a heart turned to his Amapá, but also to the defense of Brazil”.
The objective of the project presented today, which was valid for two years, was to prove the feasibility of installing wind towers in the territory of Amapá and on the equatorial coast, including the potential of Rio Grande do Norte, as researchers from the ISI-ER had identified possible solutions that can help Amapá to overcome bottlenecks in the energy context. According to SENAI, campaigns were carried out to measure meteorological variables and simulate the resource with the respective correlations to validate the models.
An event of the same size in Rio Grande Norte should take place in Amapá in the coming months. “The expectation is that, by 2024, Brazil will have determined its wind potential on the Equatorial Margin, with a legal environment to enable the exploration of the new Brazilian energy frontier, capable of leveraging the naval industry, the energy industry and wind turbines, generating jobs and income for the transformation of lives and a fair energy transition in our beloved Amapá”, concluded Davi Alcolumbre.
