Davi and Furlan lead an example of political behavior – News of Brazil

The inauguration of the first three stages of the Sports Complex ‘Glicerio de Souza Marques’on the morning of this Saturday, 29, opened space for a political fact never seen in Amapá, starring the mayor Antonio Furlan and the senator David Alcolumbre, opponents who stripped themselves of the existing differences between them to mutually admit that politics has, among its main purposes, to serve society, therefore going far beyond party-political interests.
From start, furlan said that the inauguration of the sports complex was a dream of the community that had come true and recorded that the moment was being possible because several agents came together, like Evandro Milhomen, that when federal deputy allocated the first resource for construction; the senator David, which enabled the largest amount of money and the counterpart of the City Hall of Macapá, as well as the entire team that worked to make the Glicério Marques returned to its sporting role.
The mayor’s statement was so friendly, sincere and mild that anyone unfamiliar with Amapá politics could have the impression that he and the senator were allies. “My thanks to Senator Davi Alcolumbre, Deputy Evandro Milhomen, the people of Macapá and all the people who contributed to make this dream come true”pointed out the manager, who later, after the speech by the parliamentarian, asserted: ”David’s words reflect the reality of this work. Politics exists to serve the people.”
David Alcolumbre, in turn, noted that the Glicério de Souza Marques Sports Complex was a project thought out many years ago, started in 2011 with the then federal deputy Evandro Milhomen, through a parliamentary amendment of R$ 1.7 million; in 2018 and 2020, the senator himself allocated amendments that added up to almost 12 million reais. “I register and congratulate Mayor Furlan for the right political decision to continue the work started in another administration”acknowledged.
Right away, David praised the initiative of City Hall of Macapá to deposit a high consideration for the project. The deposit, said by the senator, was almost R$ 10 million. “It’s important to point out that if it weren’t for the city hall’s counterpart and the mayor’s political decision, we wouldn’t be here handing over the work. I am grateful for Furlan’s understanding and desire because today we are setting up a sports center in the heart of the city in the national scenario of having in the capital of Amapá”said the senator.
At the opening party, Davi Alcolumbre continued: “This is the result of the work of our mandate, the mandate of Evandro Milhomen and the mayor of Macapá, who made a huge contribution, made the right decision. It is also the victory of politics and society from Amapá, which receives a great gift”. The senator also said that the counterpart, 40% of the value of the work, is an amount that no municipality gives. And he once again thanked Furlan for not letting the Glicério Marques stadium have a lost decade.
Finally, David placed himself entirely at the disposal of the mayor furlan to make an amendment viable for the construction of the stands for the sports complex’s stadium and finalize the fourth stage of the project. “Today I want to congratulate Mayor Furlan and commit myself fully to the fourth stage, removing this expense from the Municipality of Macapá, because it has already done its part with the monumental counterpart”, he concluded. The manager of the capital promised to expedite a letter to the senator, asking for the acquisition of the promised resource.
