Datafolha: Flamengo reaches its highest number of fans – 08/25/2023 – Sport

Flamengo is the club of 21% of Brazilians, points out the most recent survey carried out by Datafolha. Although the variation in relation to the previous verification was within the margin of error, it is the highest index reached in the historical series of the institute, started in 1993.

This number was obtained through 7,597 interviews, with people aged 16 or over, carried out between July 31st and August 7th, in 169 municipalities throughout Brazil. The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points at a 95% confidence level.

The survey showed a result similar to the previous one, from August 2019, with oscillations within the margin of error for all clubs. Flamengo had 20% in the survey done four years ago.

Corinthians continues in second place, which was from 14% to 15%. Added together, their biggest rivals reach 14 points: 7% for São Paulo, 7% for Palmeiras. Also reached at least 1% Cruzeiro (4%), Vasco (4%), Grêmio (4%), Santos (3%), Atlético Mineiro (2%), Internacional (2%), Bahia (2%), Botafogo (2%), Fluminense (1%), Brazilian national team (1%), Sport (1%), Vitória (1%) and Fortaleza (1%).

Flamengo has an advantage in the North (38% to 11% over Corinthians, with a margin of error of four percentage points), Northeast (29% to 9%, with a margin of error of two percentage points) and Midwest (27 percentage points). % to 17%, with a margin of error of four percentage points). Corinthians appears numerically ahead in the Southeast (20% to 17%, with a margin of error of two percentage points).

The only region led by a club that is not Red-Black or Alvinegro is the South. Grêmio (22%) has a good advantage, above the three percentage points of the margin of error, over Internacional (14%). Then, again, appear Corinthians (11%) and Flamengo (10%).

In terms of age, the association in Gávea shows its greatest advantage over Parque São Jorge among young people: 28% to 18% in the population aged 16 to 24 years, with a margin of error of three percentage points. In the range over 60 years old, also with a margin of error of three percentage points, the survey points to 16% to 10%.

Flamengo is also ahead among those with a family income of up to two minimum wages (26% to 15%, with a margin of error of two percentage points), and in classes D/E (26% to 11%, with a margin of error of two percentage points).

The research also points out other aspects that draw attention. One of them is that some supporters have a numerically higher index in the male universe than in the female universe. This is the case of Palmeiras (9% of men, 5% of women), São Paulo (8% of men, 6% of women) and Vasco (5% of men, 3% of women).

It is also observed that the number of women without a club is much higher than that of men. 25% of women say they don’t have a team, a figure that remains at 12% for men. The margin of error in the breakdown by gender is two percentage points.

The index of those without a team among the oldest is also higher. There are 26% (three percentage points margin of error) in the over 60 age group. The rate is significantly lower in the 16 to 24 age group (14%, with a margin of error of two percentage points).

Some associations have a larger number of fans than others in this age group. This is the case of Santos, which numerically has a rate of 5% (margin of error of three percentage points) over 60 years old and 2% (margin of error of two percentage points) in the group of 16 to 24 years old.

In general, the survey shows a scenario similar to the previous one, with Flamengo consolidated in the lead, with a positive oscillation within the margin of error. From a sporting point of view, there really doesn’t seem to have been any reason since the previous poll for a pullback.

Since August 2019, Flamengo has won two editions of the Copa Libertadores, one of the Recopa Sudamericana, two of the Campeonato Brasileiro, one of the Copa do Brasil, two of the Supercopa do Brasil and two of the Campeonato Carioca.

The current moment is turbulent, with tension in the squad and multiple aggressions within the team itself, but there is at least a real possibility of a new achievement in 2023. The red-black formation is in the final of the Copa do Brasil, against São Paulo.
