Daniel Alves is transferred from prison for “security” reasons

Daniel Alves was transferred, this Monday, from Brians 1 prison to Brians 2, which is next door, to guarantee his safety and “normal coexistence”. The athlete has been arrested on a preventive basis since last Friday, accused of sexual abuse against a 23-year-old woman. The change of prison was decided by the Secretariat for Penal Measures, Reinsertion and Victim Assistance.

Brians 2 Prison (Sant Esteve de Sesrovires) generally houses convicted prisoners, but also has a pre-trial detention department. The prison modules at Brians 2 accommodate an average of 80 inmates and are smaller than those at Brians 1, which receive around 200, thus allowing for better security and coexistence.

According to the Secretariat for Penal Measures, Reinsertion and Victim Care, the type of crime that Daniel Alves is accused of was not a factor for the transfer of prison and that the treatment of the player will be the same as that of other inmates.
