Senator Damares Alves (Republicanos-DF) asked the Federal Senate Advocacy for an opinion on the possibility of taking legal action against Health Minister Nísia Trindade. Damares wants the minister to present scientific and technical data used by the Ministry of Health to justify the mandatory vaccination of children against Covid.

Damares’ request was presented to the Senate body after the minister did not respond to the invitation to attend a session that discussed the topic, in the Senate plenary, last Monday (26). At the event (watch here), seven national and international experts presented arguments against the use of specific vaccines for Covid in children.

In message on social mediaDamares stated that, during the debate in the Senate, the speakers pointed out several technical errors in the Ministry of Health document and asked other questions.

Brazil is the only country in the world that tries to force children to be vaccinated against Covid-19. On January 26, the Ministry of Health stated that “the information that Brazil is the only country that vaccinates children against Covid-19” is false, but did not specify that other nations do so on an optional basis.

Recently, the Federal Council of Medicine opened a public consultation on the topic. Studies show that the Ministry contradicts important scientific evidence by making the Covid vaccine mandatory for children.

The technical note from the Health department served as the basis for a decision by the Federal Supreme Court that suspended mayors’ decrees that removed the obligation to present proof of Covid-19 vaccination for school enrollment.
